【for foreigners】How to pay your gas and electricity bills

Tokyo Gas offers several options for paying your bills.
You can switch your current payment method to another one as you like.

1. Payment Methods

  • Payment by credit card
  • Direct debit
  • Digital billing (“My Payment”)
A barcode for payment is texted (SMS) to your smartphone, which you present at a convenience store counter to pay your charges in cash.
  • Paper billing
A paper bill is mailed to you, which can be paid at a convenience store or financial institution counter or via a smartphone payment app.

Note: A service fee of 220 JPY/month (tax included) is charged for paper bill mailings.

2. Applying for payment by credit card (new/modify/update)

  • Due to administrative reasons such as variances between your credit card issuer’s billing cycle and the gas/electricity meter reading cycle, there may be months where two months’ charges are billed or no charges are billed.
  • Your credit card account will be charged on the Tokyo Gas meter reading date or billing date.
  • Depending on your plan or the area where you reside, you may need to use the paper application form to sign up for payment by credit card.
